There are lies being perpetuated on social media that I have links with terrorist
organisations.
I categorically deny this allegation. Those perpetuating these lies should be investigated and arrested for spreading false news. I call upon the Police to do so as
soon as possible before these lies overtake the truth.
Bukit Aman has taken action against the spread of fake news and must do so here
as well. Fake news can be used to incite inter-racial and inter-religious tension in a
country that has always been known for inter-racial and inter-religious harmony.
My party, DAP, has been smeared yet again with similar allegations just as a by-election draws near.
I know the two assemblymen who were arrested over suspected links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) group and if the police have credible
evidence, they must be charged in court without delay.
I have visited the families of Melaka EXCO member and Gadek assemblyman G Saminathan, and Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasekaran today.
Saminathan’s wife Uma, has a young two-year old child who is yearning for his
father.
Gunasekaran’s wife has been terribly shaken by the arrest of her husband. They are all lost for words over it.
I comforted them. Assured them we will do our level best to take them out of detention as soon as possible. The party has assigned experienced lawyers namely Bukit Gelugor member of parliament Ram Karpal and Jelutong MP RSN Rayer to act for the both of them.
The party has entrusted me as national vice-chairman to represent the party in
liaising with the relevant authorities, legislators and family members.
