KUALA LUMPUR, 1 September 2023 – Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s premier shopping destination, is proud to unveil its inspiring Merdeka campaign, titled ‘Pavilion Loves Sustainability’, which aims to foster sustainable patriotism and environmental consciousness and align with the mall’s newly-launched Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative. Partnering with Spritzer – the Malaysian mineral water brand which uses 100% recycled plastic – Pavilion KL is embarking on a remarkable journey to celebrate the core values of sustainability, community care, and positive transformation, in line with Pavilion REIT’s ‘Caring for Local Community’ pledge.

“This campaign embodies Pavilion REIT properties’ commitment to creating a positive impact on the world around us. We recognise that as a premier shopping destination, our influence extends beyond retail; it encompasses our responsibility towards community and the environment. This journey isn’t just about the present – it’s a step toward creating environmental consciousness far beyond the walls of its properties,” said Dato’ Philip Ho, Chief Executive Officer of Pavilion REIT.

At the heart of this campaign stands an impressive art installation – an upcycled rendition of the Malaysian flag, meticulously crafted from 2,000 Spritzer bottles. These bottles are crafted from 100% recycled plastics, symbolising both the creative potential of sustainable practices and Spritzer and Pavilion KL’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The collaborative efforts between Pavilion KL and Spritzer encourage the adoption of eco-conscious choices and inspire positive transformations, all in the pursuit of a sustainable nation. Installed until 16 September, all Malaysians are invited to view this landmark art piece, which marks Spritzer’s first-ever art installation within a shopping mall.

As part of the campaign, individuals are encouraged to pledge their dedication to a more sustainable Malaysia by participating in the recycling of plastic bottles at Spritzer’s pop-up located at Connection (by Quivo, Level 3). Participants will receive a special gift, highlighting the significance of each person’s role in shaping a sustainable future.

Pavilion KL will also be hosting the Pavilion Loves Sustainability Marketplace at Fashion Avenue, Level 2 until 10 September – an immersive market experience showcasing sustainable activities and booths by Pavilion REIT Malls, tenants and partners. Among the booths are LUSH who will be selling their Charity Pot products and conducting weekend bath bomb workshops; Karl Lagerfeld who will be showcasing their sustainable collection and highlighting their ‘Karl Cares’ campaign; The Body Shop who will conduct a DIY planting sessions with shoppers; Persatuan Seni Jahitan who will be selling handcrafted items; and Pavilion KL’s festive partner Maybank who will be sharing their sustainability efforts, impact outcomes and products. Other booths include Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Intermark Mall, DA MEN Mall, Evolcare, Spritzer and Nuriman Craft.

A Pavilion Loves Sustainability Pledge Board, located at the Marketplace, will also provide a platform for individuals to mark their pledges and publicly affirm their commitment to environmental stewardship.

In line with Pavilion KL’s overarching ESG initiative, the mall has introduced Tesla Superchargers to provide convenient and fast charging for electric vehicles. This strategic move encourages mall visitors to adopt sustainable transportation options while enjoying their shopping experience. Pavilion KL will also host the Sime Darby Auto Bavaria EV Roadshow at the Centre Court from 11 to 17 September, shining a spotlight on an impressive range of electric vehicles from BMW, MINI, and Motorrad, which propels the adoption of green mobility solutions.

As Malaysia approaches its 66th year of independence, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s ‘Pavilion Loves Sustainability’ campaign stands as a resounding testament to the nation’s ability to merge patriotism with environmental efforts. By embracing this movement, each individual can play a pivotal role in nurturing a greener, more sustainable Malaysia for generations to come.
