Oomph! Delicious!

297

Pardon me for doing this now for my fellow fasting friends.

I must share what a satisfying night I had at Delicious, at Bangsar Village two days ago. I’m joining my host and guests to sample the Buka Puasa Special menu, which I must say has evolved.

Many would say Delicious’s food, apart from being delicious is also served in large portion and it is consistently yummy. The latter part is highly contributed to the skilled ‘control team’ from the kitchen, which ensure you can get to revisit the same tasty food anytime you visit Delicious.

This Buka Puasa season, Delicious added Nasi Lemak Daging with Rendang Tok, Chempedak Cake and Cendol Cake to sweeten up the deal. But fret not, other menus such as Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Lemak Ayam Percik and Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah is still around for loyalist who can’t get over the feeling.
Other main menus include Mee Mamak Goreng, Corned Beef Pasta and Hainanese Chicken Chop. The dessert add on is Ais Kacang or Cendol.
The Buka Puasa promotions also serve both individual and group with Kurma Madu, Chicken Satay and Bubur of the day.

Now here’s the part that I like, explaining to you for your imagination and for your taste bud to runs awry my selected favorites:

Main course selections:

Nasi Lemak Rendang Tok – in English, we love to keep the name Nasi Lemak, as it will be too fattening to describe literally. But this rice, is cooked with original pandan leaves colouring and very aromatic. Serve with the condiments; the succulent half boiled eggs, tangy squid sambal, some keropok or crackers, fried anchovies and the meaty rendang. The rendang meat is succulent, and if you are unaware of the method, trust me it takes time to cook to perfection. The spices, the blended what-not and everything, infused together to get this tender meaty dish and the spices become the delicious crumbles.

Mee Goreng Mamak – Mamak fried yellow noodle? No, it won’t do justice. Especially to this Mee Goreng Mamak that comes with a secret recipe, which if you are a regular, it drives you nuts over the texture and balance of every Mee Goreng you ever tasted.

The Nasi LemakAyamPercik and Nasi LemakAyamBerempah – the difference is in the chicken. The Ayam Percik, grilled to perfection and simmered with blended spices and condiments, plus coconut milk. No matter what, the meat is still juicy in the inside, yet tender. And chewy, so you wonder if it’s really grilled in the first place, which is yes!

The Nasi LemakAyamBerempah – prepare yourself with a blast of crumbles from perfectly fried chicken with spices. Imagine you have chicken marinated and then when you fry it smells spices, yes that chicken, and the spice crumbles should get its own menu as well as it is delicious to eat on its own too. But you don’t have too, because they are generous with the crumbles on the chicken for this one.

On the cakes, did I say they have Cendol Cake and Chempedak Cake? I missed the Chempedak Cake as it must have been a best seller. Didn’t make it to the Buka Puasa time, but Cendol Cake is a surprise indeed. There’s actual cendol on the layers! The cake is not dry, it is just nice, sweet and creamy and it smell like cendol too.

Choice of drinks are Ginger Poppin It, Satu Dua Tiga Sedap, Assam The Bois, Iced Lemon Tea and Teh Tarik. I had Assam TheBois, under the pretext for fat burning, but what do you know, it didn’t work! No exercise there.
