Visiting MIHAS 2024

278

The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024 is happening right now at MITEC from the 17th to 20th of September. This much awaited event is in its 20th year and going stronger than ever with higher visitor’s traffic this year.

Halal industry in Malaysia is beyond Halal food. It thrives on other sectors as well such as Halal pharmaceutical, medical devices, finance, modest fashion, personal care and cosmetics, green technologies and even Muslim-friendly tourism. Malaysia is gearing up to fulfil the whole supply chain of halal industries and it is expected that by 2030, the size of Malaysia’s halal market will achieve USD113.2 billion.

It is not a surprise that this year’s event is the best opportunities for visitors to explore the showcases of halal products and services in the market. From halal food sampling and product testers to consultation on financial products and services, there’s a room for everyone to explore.

On the first day of the event, we have witnessed several MOU signing ceremonies between local halal entrepreneur and their business partners from domestic and overseas market. This ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development, Ewon Benedick.

The said MOUs were between R FEX Global Trade Sdn Bhd and Nasya International Healthcare Limited (Nigeria), between Hijrah Nature Herbs Sdn Bhd and Hilal Group Enterprises Pte Ltd (Singapore) and Noble Club International Limited (Hong Kong). There were also new product launching by Sumatraa Industries Sdn Bhd and Kuhot Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd for domestic and international markets. This event was held at the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Pavillion at Level 1.

From the visits to the participating booths, it was an eye-opening experience to see local products with Halal certification on display. The product quality and packaging surpass some international brands and the best thing is, it is locally flavoured too. You can’t miss the aroma of Malaysian’s delicacies such as sambal nasi lemak, acar, ready to eat food in consumer-friendly packing and even snacks. Our local delicacies were upgraded like Fishkor, the unmistakable lekor chips, minus the oily residue.

If you are at Level 1, be prepared to sample mouth-watering food and snacks from the vendors. For this event, there were items on promotional price to grab, and not forgetting newly released products from brands. You will be surprised with the selection of frozen food, ready to eat and snacks, perhaps some you have not heard of but available in the market.

It is also time to develop new likes, such as the delicious cakes and pastries, the traditionally prepared tea with natural ingredients and many more.

Some brands need no further introduction such as Adabi. The canned ready to eat food such as chicken curry, lamb kurma and marinates has been a steady staple to many households. It is indeed refreshing to see the industry players listened well to consumer needs for a quality, easy to prepare and delicious food.

There were also franchise opportunities if you are interested in becoming a franchisee to one of the brands.

If you are interested to visit MIHAS 2024, please do not hesitate to do so. Experience the halal industry offering all under one roof.
