PUTRAJAYA 12 November 2019 – During his short visit to Bahrain (11 – 12 November) YB Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development took the opportunity to engage with his peers from the Arab nations who also participated in the Ministers’ Panel during the World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF) 2019 at the In Bahrain. Also present at the forum were representatives and business communities from the Gulf region and African nations. The Minister also took this opportunity to meet with investors to promote Malaysian startups as well as Malaysian diaspora in Bahrain.
“In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth, especially through participation of youths. Undynamic economic activities and untapped potential of our youth only contribute to the undesired upward trend of youth unemployment statistics.
The Minister highlighted that with the launch of the New Entrepreneurship Policy 2030, a policy direction has been set to encourage the youth to respond to the challenges of today with innovative approaches, contributing fresh ideas, creating the world they want, and driving human development for themselves, their communities and societies. ” said the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) in a statement yesterday.
MED also added that the Minister noted that policy levers are now in place to help encourage and increase entrepreneurs to contribute further to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is 45% contribution to the GDP by 2025 and 50% by 2030.
YB Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof also had a separate discussion with Shaikh Daij Bin Isa Al Khalifa the Chairman of ASEAN Bahrain Council (ABC); a council tasked to promote trade, investment and goodwill between the ASEAN Countries and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Their meeting was to further explore collaboration opportunities among entrepreneurs in Malaysia and Bahrain.
