COURTESY VISIT AND KEYNOTE SPEECH BY MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS YB SENATOR DATUK SERI SAIFUDDIN NASUTION ISMAIL IN MTPC PROGRAM HOSTED BY INPUMA-UMLEAD, JULY 8, 2024

The International Institute of Public Policy and Management and Centre for Leadership and Professional Development (INPUMA-UMLEAD) at Universiti Malaya (UM) recently welcomed a visit from Home Minister YB Senator Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail during the Timor Leste Special Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) organised on July 8, 2024, at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

This year, the MTCP Secretariat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs entrusted INPUMA UM to share Malaysia’s experience in public policy and leadership in capacity-building programs, focusing on good governance, institutional reforms, and building a democratic future. This aligns with Malaysia’s support for Timor Leste’s membership application to join the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Malaysia’s upcoming role as ASEAN Chairman in 2025.

During the event, Home Minister YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin emphasised the importance of understanding the concept of a clean Malaysia as an ongoing effort and the significance of government and public support. INPUMA and the top management of the UM also expressed their gratitude for the Minister’s keynote address and his willingness to share Malaysia’s experience with the 15 Timor Leste’s senior policymakers participating in this year’s MTCP program.
