SUNGAI PETANI, Dec 4 (Bernama) — PETRONAS, in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Department, National Security Council (MKN), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and Kuala Muda District Office, recently organised a two-day disaster management workshop to elevate collective emergency and crisis preparedness.
Officiated by MKN Deputy Director General of Security Management, Hamzah Ishak, the workshop saw participation from over 120 representatives from dedicated authorities and local agencies such as the Kedah National Security Council, Malaysian Civil Defence, Kedah State Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police and Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department.
Themed “United Towards a Common Goal”, the session featured speakers from key government authorities, agencies and PETRONAS who shared and exchanged valuable insights as well as best practices on critical actions to be taken during a disaster.
In addition, PETRONAS and NADMA executed a Tabletop Emergency Response Exercise by facilitating an emergency response and disaster management simulation based on a toxic chemical release and major fire explosion scenario at the PETRONAS facilities in Gurun, which further enhanced the understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities involved in managing disasters.
PETRONAS will continue to organise similar workshops in other states and districts across Malaysia in its bid to enhance the safety of the people, its assets and the environment.
