TANJONG KARANG, November 22 (Bernama) — Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation by spearheading its CSR Program, “A WAVE OF CHANGE” – Beach & Mangrove Cleaning Program 2023 at Jeti Nelayan Parit 3 Sungai Burong, Tanjong Karang, Selangor.

The event brought together a dedicated cohort including PAAB’s volunteers, local residents, volunteers from Air Selangor (AiS) and a passionate team of young volunteers from Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah, unified in their dedication to preserving nature.

“I am proud that this year, PAAB’s Corporate Communications Department, the organiser of the company’s CSR activities, has changed our CSR landscape to programs based on sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

“Previously, most CSR activities were directed to community service, help and contribution, but now PAAB has switched to activities and initiatives that are based on environmental sustainability and cultivating green practices,” said PAAB Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Zulkiflee Omar, who kick-started the event with warm words of appreciation and gratitude extended to all participants.

The unique gathering on a Monday morning provided an exceptional opportunity for collective action, fostering a sense of community in safeguarding our environment.

This initiative stands as the second of its kind for PAAB this year, following a successful inaugural session in Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang. The next and final session of 2023 will take place in Johor, marking a triad of impactful environmental engagements.

PAAB aspires to plant a minimum of 1,000 mangrove trees in total across these three sessions.

“This initiative is important to preserve the area from erosion and waves, and it is the mangrove tree saplings that give the coastal ecosystem balance in this area.”

“Therefore, let us join together and volunteer to conserve the environment, habitat and natural ecosystem in this village,” said Zulkiflee.

Over a total of 500 volunteers, comprising PAAB staff, water operation companies from respective states, and devoted young advocates, are actively engaged in this effort.

This endeavour is not only part of PAAB’s initiative in preserving and preserving the environment but also underscores the significance of practical actions in achieving sustainable outcomes.

“In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Encik Anwar and the residents of Parit 3, Sungai Burong, Tanjung Karang, Selangor, for their warm welcome. We hope to continue supporting such programs in the future,” he added.

PAAB remains committed to future collaborations and endeavours that champion environmental preservation.
