KUCHING, Mar 7 2023 – Raja Puan Muda Perak Darul Ridzuan Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri Tunku Soraya Tunku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah officiated the 2nd National Trefoil Guild Council Gathering 2023, today.
Tunku Soraya who is the Vice President of the Girl Guides Association Malaysia said, Trefoil Guild Girl Guides has come a long way and it is not surprising for its members to have acclaimed the Asia Pacific Leadership Award for Service to Girl Guiding/ Girl Scouting.
“With all the knowledge, skills and experiences accumulated over the years in guiding, our ladies have contributed generously towards the community and the world at large,” she said in her opening speech during the welcoming dinner here.
Tunku Soraya also wished the focus could be shifted to work relentlessly towards the common goals of empowering the youth and spreading awareness about the globally concerned issues.
“Your passion in guiding helps us to bring you all together and unite the energy in the fulfillment of our common goals and that is why it makes Trefoil Guild Girl Guides even stronger.
“With that in mind, it is our duty to tap the energy of our youth in the right way by providing the right platform and abundant opportunities for them to accomplish greater achievements in life.
“Let us be the best role model for the young ladies,” she added.
The Trefoil Guild Gathering is expected to have a positive impact on Sarawak’s tourism industry with over 150 international and local delegates attending the event.
The gathering is hosted by the Girl Guides Association Malaysia (GGAM), Malaysia’s largest single gender organisation from March 7 to 10 at The Waterfront Hotel.
Also present were Chief Commissioner Girl Guides Association Malaysia, Dato’ Jeyadhevi Subramaniam, President Girl Guides Association Malaysia Sarawak Branch, Dato’ Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud and Consul-General of Brunei Darussalam Noni Zurainah Ismi.
