KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) — Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) was invited to the 2024 World Women Economic and Business Summit (#WWEBS2024) held at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur, an event graced by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, which gathered global leaders and visionaries to further advance women’s roles in leadership and entrepreneurship.
The summit, carrying “Champion Women, Ignite Progress” as its theme, focused on promoting gender equality, fostering leadership opportunities for women in business, and ensuring women’s voices are heard in decision-making processes. CEOs, Directors, and aspiring leaders gathered to share insights, challenges, and personal accomplishments, working together to drive progress.
The summit was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Malaysia, with a keynote address titled “Power and Parity: Rewriting the Rules for the Future.” YB Dato’ emphasised the need to support women in all aspects of society, stating, “The theme Champion Women, Ignite Progress, is a call to action for gender equality and empowerment, both in Malaysia and throughout Asia.”
Her Majesty The Queen, during Her Majesty’s special address, amplified the importance of this summit, emphasising Malaysia’s commitment to creating a globally relevant model of women’s empowerment. “With the continued dedication of all Malaysians, I am confident that we will not only meet our ambitious targets but also establish Malaysia as a global leader in women’s empowerment and gender equality. Together we can create a Malaysia where every girl completes her education and reaches her full potential,” said Her Majesty.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the World Distinguished Women Leader Lifetime Achievement Award to UNIRAZAK Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Samsinar Md Sidin. This prestigious recognition was in honour of YBhg. Prof.’s exemplary leadership and dedication to liberalise education, encourage innovation and enhance globalisation.
YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Samsinar Md Sidin expressed her gratitude and stated “This award is a recognition of the collective effort undertaken by all Razakians, past and present, and I sincerely hope that this determination remains imbued in the hearts and minds of all Razakians, especially the young ladies and women of UNIRAZAK, in navigating an ever more challenging future.”
