PUTRAJAYA, August 18 2024 — The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) welcomes the Prime Minister’s aspiration in the 19th General Meeting of Civil Servants (MAPPA) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on 16 August 2024 to continue to commit to empowering public services as pillar of national progress.

PETRA said in a statement yesterday, the Ministry supports the three (3) main cores of the announced public service reform by seeking to increase productivity and efficiency through the application of innovative technology and processes in energy and water management.

“Furthermore, PETRA also committed to prepare the officers to face the changes by arranging non-stop training and professional development opportunities. With this method, PETRA is confident that it can strengthen the country’s competitiveness with initiatives that support sustainable growth and becoming great in this critical sector,”said PETRA.

The salary adjustment will be announced by the government, with 15% for officers of the implementing group as well as the management and professional group. And 7% for the top management group, not only to improve the working environment, but also to play an important role in reducing the risk of corruption and leakage in public sector.

“With the relevant income and more guaranteed well-being, public officials will be less exposed to the financial pressure that can lead to immoral behavior. This will promote a much stronger culture of integrity and accountability, along with ensuring that public resources will be used more effectively and responsibly.

Furthermore, the Government’s efforts to introduce career advancement improvement for grade 41 officers until grade 48 through special promotions for incumbent (KUP) expected to benefit more than 342 officers in the department and agency under PETRA, especially in close services scheme in Irrigation and and Drainage Department (JPS) and Sewerage Services Department (JPP),” said PETRA.

The recognition of officers as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in critical areas such as energy transition gives PETRA the advantage of leveraging internal expertise and reducing dependence on external consultants. This also allows a more dynamic and flexible career path for officers.

With this support, PETRA will ensure excellence in energy management and water transformation, driving the country’s agenda towards faster progress and global competitiveness.
