JOHOR, 17 August 2024 – Johor DAP Vice Chairman Sheikh Umar Bagharib bin Ali congratulated UMNO candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul who won the election and reclaim the Nenggiri state seat from PN.
In a statement made yesterday, Sheikh Umar said that besides the effectiveness of the strategy, the victory gives the impression that the people’s confidence in UMNO can be maintained despite being heavily attacked by PN.
“In my opinion, this is a manifestation of the people’s confidence in the current direction of the Unity Government. It involves the commitment to restore the economy, unify the people and promote good policies for the country”
In addition, the narrow and evil racial political narrative that underlies the PN campaign, for example discrediting other groups who are not confused, is becoming more ineffective. The voters want the agenda of development and unity as brought by the parties in the Unity Government,” said Sheikh Umar who is also a member of the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC)
Sheikh Umar as the local DAP leader dan a voter in Mahkota’s State Assembly also strongly believes that the success momentum of the UMNO candidate in Nenggiri will spread to the Mahkota State Assembly elections this September.
“Pakatan Harapan will continue to maintain strategic cooperation in the campaign in the Mahkota State Assembly to ensure the victory of the Unity candidates.” he said.
