LIMA, Peru August 14, 2024 – Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Energy Transition and Air Transformation (PETRA), Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, who led the Malaysian delegation, safely arrived in Lima, Peru for the Energy Ministers Meeting (EMM) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). During this meeting, discussions will focus on sustainable energy goals, policies, and cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy transition and carbon footprint reduction among APEC economies.
“As the Minister of Energy Transition and Air Transformation (PETRA), I will present Malaysia’s stance on national energy transition efforts, ensuring inclusive and equitable energy development. They will also share the country’s aspiration towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the implementation of the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR), Hydrogen Economy Transition Plan (HETR), and New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
Malaysia’s proactive initiatives and engagement in sustainable growth are expected to positively showcase the nation’s potential for green investments to investors from the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, Malaysia’s participation aims to strengthen its image and position as a destination for clean and high-value investments.” said Fadillah.
He will also hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with APEC counterparts to expand cooperation networks in various energy fields, particularly those supporting national energy transition commitments and initiatives.
He expressed gratitude to Mr. Mohamed Shahiran bin Mohamed Shah, Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Malaysian Embassy in Lima, Republic of Peru, and Mr. Mohd Al Hafis bin Hanapi, as well as embassy officials who welcomed his arrival at Jorge Chavez Airport.
Fadillah also extended his thanks to the Malaysian Embassies in Madrid and Doha for their assistance during the transit at the respective airports.
