PUTRAJAYA, August 12, 2024 – The Deputy Prime Minister, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, will lead Malaysia’s delegation to the Energy Ministers Meeting (EMM) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on August 15-16, 2024.
The APEC EMM meeting, hosted by Peru as the APEC 2024 Chair, is the highest-level gathering of APEC economic leaders responsible for energy development.
“This meeting is expected to discuss directions, policies, and cooperation for sustainable energy growth, particularly in the areas of energy transition and efforts to reduce carbon footprint among APEC economies.
The Deputy Prime Minister will present the country’s stance on energy transition efforts, ensuring inclusive and equitable energy development. He will also share the nation’s aspiration towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the implementation of the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR), Hydrogen Economy Transition Plan (HETR), and New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030. Malaysia’s proactive initiatives and engagement can provide a positive outlook on the country’s green investment potential for investors from the Asia-Pacific region,” said PETRA.
PETRA further emphasized that Fadillah’s participation will strengthen the country’s image and position as a destination for clean and high-value investments.
Additionally, he will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts from APEC economies and international industry players to expand cooperation networks in various energy fields, especially those supporting the nation’s energy transition commitments and initiatives.”
