SEPANG, August 6, 2024 – During the implementation of Operation KESAN 2.0, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN) received 83 public complaints related to price increases for goods and services following the removal of diesel subsidies.
According to Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, the Minister, the KPDN Enforcement Division issued 244 written notices under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (AKHAP). Out of this total, 10 investigation files have been opened for referral to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
“Overall, during the initial two-month phase of diesel subsidy removal, the number of cases related to profiteering was small and manageable. This demonstrates a high level of compliance among most traders.
KPDN appreciates the commitment of the business community, which has refrained from taking advantage of the situation to raise prices for goods and services after the diesel subsidy removal. Simultaneously, KPDN continues to strengthen monitoring at all levels through Operation KESAN 2.0, and public feedback is highly encouraged.” said Armizan.
