KUALA LUMPUR, 20th May 2024 – Pavilion REIT celebrated success at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Global MAXI Awards, with Pavilion Bukit Jalil winning a gold and a silver, and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur receiving a silver award. Both malls competed with finalists from around the world, including those from Canada, the US, and Singapore.
Based in New York, ICSC is a worldwide trade association representing the mall and retail real estate sector. The MAXI Awards acknowledge innovative events, programs, and technologies that add value to the mall industry, encompassing marketing campaigns implemented in 2023.
Pavilion Bukit Jalil was awarded Gold for hosting a total of nine highly immersive pop-up exhibitions, from ‘Van Gogh Alive’ to ‘Demon Slayer,’ and many more, bringing in an additional 280,000 visitors to the mall, underscoring pop-up exhibitions as one of the most effective marketing strategies.
Pavilion Bukit Jalil also clinched the Silver award for its ‘Celebrating Every Story’ campaign in partnership with Warner Bros. for their 100th Anniversary, in which families were invited to immerse themselves in a captivating array of themed decorations, activities, and redemptions inspired by iconic franchises such as Scooby Doo and Harry Potter. Remarkably, this campaign witnessed a 110% surge in visitors, solidifying Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s status as the premier destination for families.
Meanwhile, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur achieved a Silver award for its tribute to Michelle Yeoh, hailed as ‘The Pride of Malaysia.’ The mall organised a magnificent homecoming for the Oscar winner, drawing thousands of fans to meet Yeoh in person, with many more joining the watch party online. With an impressive 3,400% ROI, this event marked one of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s most unforgettable campaigns, garnering global recognition.
