KUALA LUMPUR 11 March 2024- Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has taken a proactive approach in bringing together key players from the industry through its first networking session of the year, aimed at fostering collaboration and growth opportunities.

Held at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, the event was attended by over 250 business events industry players comprising both MyCEB’s Industry Partner Programme (IPP) members and non-IPP members, including venue operators, professional conference organisers, professional exhibition organisers and many more. The event served as a platform for industry stakeholders to connect, share insights and chart the course for the year ahead.

The event also marks the Bureau’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik’s first official gathering with local industry players. Reflecting on the significance of this gathering, Mr. Azman said, “Our networking session serves as a testament to MyCEB’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant and cohesive business events community in Malaysia. By bringing together industry stakeholders, we aim to facilitate meaningful exchanges and drive collective growth. It is my honour to host them for the first time in my capacity as the CEO of MyCEB and I thank them for their ongoing support”.

Key takeaways from the networking session underscored the importance of annual convergence to set the tone and establish common ground within the industry. It provided a valuable opportunity for members to articulate their needs and perspectives, gaining deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities prevalent in the business events landscape.

As MyCEB gears up for the launch of the MICE/Business Events (BE) Community next year, the focus remains on strengthening regional ties, promoting economic growth, and enhancing the overall profile of the business events industry across Southeast Asia. This pioneering effort was established during a courtesy visit to The Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (IECA-ASPERAPI), further reinforced by a courtesy call to the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). This community serves as a testament to MyCEB’s steadfast dedication to propelling Malaysia’s business events industry to greater heights.

Additionally, MyCEB also took the opportunity to urge non-IPP members to be part of the Bureau’s long-standing programme. Established in 2011, the IPP serves as a platform to elevate its members by profiling their organisation to the lucrative international market, especially through the wide range of services and business development opportunities available. These services include co-operative sales and marketing activities, professional development,
business-to-business networking, market intelligence, and product profiles in MyCEB’s online and print publications. To date, IPP has garnered the support of over 212 members and is looking to build increase its network

The success of the networking session reflected MyCEB’s dedication to supporting the growth and development of Malaysia’s business events industry. As the Bureau continues to spearhead initiatives that promote strategic partnership and innovation, Malaysia remains poised to attract a diverse range of international events, bolstering the country’s economy and reputation as a premier and sustainable business events destination.
