EsportsCon Malaysia 2024 offered attendees an all-access pass to unlocking their esports ecosystem experience

PUCHONG, 6 January 2024  – The Ministry of Youth and Sports through Esports Integrated (ESI) had organised the inaugural EsportsCon Malaysia 2024 held in Spacerubix, Puchong today.   The convention was aimed to provide an inclusive space for gaming enthusiasts, industry professionals, and technology enthusiasts alike to interact, connect, network, and share their passion for gaming.  The event showcased exhibitions by university and tech brands, panel discussions on hot topics in esports, B2B business matching and networking, show match with esports KOL, cosplay performances, food trucks and more. 

“We designed EsportsCon to be inclusive – catering not just to esports and gaming enthusiasts, but also those new to this world. Our goal was for both fans and non-fans alike to immerse in the ecosystem, learning and experiencing firsthand what makes events like these so thrilling,” said Ahmed Faris Amir, Chief Executive Officer of Esports Integrated. 

“This was a platform for stakeholders and participants across the spectrum to unite, celebrate each other’s contributions, and explore potential collaborations. By connecting people to the resources and partners they need, we hope EsportsCon sparks new esports programs and community-building initiatives. When the wider public witnesses the innovation and excitement shaping this industry, it creates more opportunities to propel Malaysian esports forward together,” he added.

University Showcase

The university showcase area featured student-led esports initiatives from 9 major campuses, including INTI, Sunway, Monash, UNITEN, UniKL, UiTM, UKM, MMU Cyberjaya and IIUM.  Visitors were able to engage with the next generation of esports enthusiasts, learning about the groundbreaking developments happening through university gaming communities and clubs. By highlighting these student-fueled innovations in competitive gaming and esports, EsportsCon inspired to propel collegiate esports forward.

Brand Showcase 

Industry trailblazers like SEA Gamer Mall and MSI exhibited cutting-edge gaming trends, products and services where participants discovered the latest in gaming brands and engaged with interactive showcases that highlighted the best the industry had to offer.  Media Variasi, Games and Intricon Pte Ltd showcased — while up-and-coming indie developers showcased their game creations, and a sneak peek into the exclusive launches and showcases of highly anticipated games set to hit the market in 2025.

Exciting Activities by Goodday Milk, our official beverage partner, brought additional excitement to the event.

Panel Discussion

Led by Aiman Laphel as the moderator, EsportsCon 2024 also shared insightful panel talks by experts from the likes of government agencies, game developers, esports athletes and more.  Four of the topics discussed were “Implementation of NESDEG: Progress and Challenges” featuring ESI, MDEC and MESF; “Unlock Opportunities in Esports. Power Your Brand through Gaming Partnerships” featuring Infinix and Invictor; “Career Opportunities in Esports” featuring Moonton, Gamesmy, Todak Academy and Sir Cloud; and “Interview with Existing Esports National Players” featuring Grills Gaming, Homebois and GBX Haikal.

Business Matching Session

Business matchmaking was conducted in rooms where participants get to know each other and explore for potential partnerships and collaborations.

Esports Showdown with KOL

Witnessed by enthusiastic crowds, the digital arena saw an exhilarating clash as our KOL lineups – Kingyonni, Sultan Riq, Sleepygodzillas and MamaJess geared up for a friendly esports showdown together with the crowd. The thrill of watching these influential personalities engage in competitive gaming brought an unprecedented level of entertainment to both seasoned gamers and eager spectators. 

Cosplay Extravaganza

Visitors were treated to captivating displays of creativity, featuring dynamic dancing by Kitty and Kazumi, soulful singing by Rina Hime, and electrifying DJ by DJ Harimao, ensuring an unforgettable visual and auditory experience for visitors. 

EsportsCon 2024 was not just an event, it was a celebration, marking the beginning of a new era in the esports industry.
