Ismail Sabri Still Heads Bera Umno Division

BERA 4 March 2023 – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob continues to carry out his duties as Bera Umno Division chief after winning the post unopposed.

Ismail who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bera, will continue to serve both of his duties as there is no reason for him to retire.

“I am thankful that there is no competition for the post and the trust given to me to carry on as the chief of UMNO Bera Division. A truly democratic election for the division this year.”

The members also gave their trust to the several leaders in the division as there are no competitions for the posts of vice head, Women’s head and its vice,

Youth head and its vice and Puteri vice head.

“While the candidates competing on the other posts in Bera division, I wish them good luck. Same goes to the candidates competing in all UMNO divisions nationwide, compete in a truly spirit of family atmosphere.”

Ismail Sabri posted this in his Facebook page on Saturday. Although it is understood that Ismail won unopposed after the Bera UMNO secretary announced there were no other nominations received by the deadline at 5pm on Feb 26, he still waited for the final decision from the UMNO headquarters.

However, Ismail will not seek re-election as an UMNO vice-president but he has called for the contents of a Registrar of Societies (ROS) letter that approved the party’s no-contest motion for the president and deputy president posts in upcoming internal election to be revealed.

It was reported recently that Ismail said that UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should clarify the matter as there are conflicting media reports on the content of the ROS letter.

It was reported that of 330 applications were submitted by candidates contesting for various national level leadership posts in the UMNO elections. There are eight candidates contesting the three vice-presidents posts and 93 vying for Supreme Council seats.

Two candidates are eyeing the Wanita UMNO chief post, five for the Youth chief and six for Puteri chief roles. There are 61 candidates battling for Wanita executive committee (exco) seats, 113 for Pemuda and 42 for Puteri.

The UMNO elections will commence on March 11, with the Wanita, Youth and Puteri leadership posts being up for grabs, while division officials, vice-presidents and members of the Supreme Council will be elected on March 18.

It was also reported that the Wanita, Youth and Puteri UMNO division delegates meetings and committee elections as well as the central Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri UMNO Exco elections will be held simultaneously throughout the country on March 11.

The UMNO division delegates and committee elections as well as the UMNO supreme council elections will be held simultaneously nationwide on March 18.
